Setup Gmail in Outlook 2007

  1. First you need to Enable POP in your Gmail Account.
  2. Now you will want to Open Outlook 2007.
  3. Next click the Tools menu. Then click Account Settings...
  4. Next click on the New... button.
  5. Now make sure that the POP3 option is selected and click Next.
  6. Now fill in the required information and check the Manually configure server settings box in the bottom left and click Next.
  7. Next make sure that the Internet E-mail is selected and click Next.
  8. Then for the incoming mail server type pop.gmail.com and for the outgoing mail server put smtp.gmail.com.
  9. Now put your username@gmail.com in the username box and password in the password box
  10. Then click the More Settings... button and click on the Outgoing Server tab and click the SMTP authentication box.
  11. Now click on the Advanced tab and then check the This server requires and encriped connection (SSL) box and in the SMTP port number put 587 and change where the encription type says none to Auto and click OK.
  12. Then click Next and then Finish

Enabling POP

You can retrieve your Gmail messages with a client or device that supports POP, like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail.

To enable POP in your Gmail account:

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
  3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  4. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
  5. Choose the action you'd like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
  6. Configure your POP client* and click Save Changes.
