We are $15,000 in debt. I am disabled. We live check to check in Southern California. My husband works 50-60 hours a week. He gets no health insurance, no paid time off, no sick days. He is in desperate needs of dental work. He is 34 and missing most of his teeth. His mom, also part of the 99%, could never afford to fix them when he was growing up. Between rent (1200 a month in a bad area) and bills, we have nothing left. I cannot remember the last time we were able to fill our gas tank. It always hovers on empty as we struggle to put in a few dollars here and there. I have prospects for a part-time job but they all want to check my credit which is horrible from being unemployed, disabled and mentally ill. I can’t even afford to go get my GED for $150.00.
My parents lost everything in their retirement account because of the 2008 crash and never recovered. They now live check to check from Social Security in a house that is literally falling apart. They can’t afford to help us, and we can’t afford to help them. We pray everyday that my husband remains in good health because without him we would be homeless. If he gets ill we are screwed. I also wanted to go to a top university, which I did, but that accomplishment has been dampened a bit by the $103,000.00 in student loans that are about to start ruining my life.
I am a fairly privileged college student who luckily doesn’t owe a cent in student loans. For that, I thank my parents who are breaking their necks just to keep me in school. Why should they suffer for my education?

Wall Street produces nothing yet enjoys the lowest tax rates — BECAUSE they make our laws!
Stop rewarding people who do nothing but move money around making money off the backs of real producers. Start rewarding people who actually produce something REAL!

I am completely inspired by this movement. For me, it represents the validation of a lifetime knowing that the structure of our society is not just unbalanced but unjust. We must have the end of corporations profiting from human suffering! This is a movement— a revolution— about justice. We will not be ignored any longer. We are the 99%
Yeah, I DO feel “entitled” to healthy food, safe shelter, healthcare, & a good education without having to struggle and toil away for it.

I’m 26 years old, and have a masters degree. I work in my field but need four jobs to pay my rent. Today I couldn’t go to work because there is no gas in my car and I don’t have enough money to buy any. My 4 jobs combined literally don’t even pay enough for me to go into work. I look for another job, or a better job every day. There are none! I am the 99% www.occupywallstreet.org
I am a Political Science major. I was accepted to a prestigious school that cost $52,000. I received half off my tuition because of good grades. I still couldn’t afford to go. My dreams are to work for a non-profit after completing law school. I want to help people. Gandhi said “be the change you want to see in the world.” Despite my dreams, I can’t AFFORD to be that change. We are the 99%
